ENOUGH DV was founded out of heartbreak, grief, and an unshakable determination to stop the cycle of domestic violence before it claims more lives. In early 2025, Nebraska was devastated by a series of domestic violence homicides, including the tragic loss of our board president’s stepdaughter. Another of our board members lost her sister in a rural DV homicide in 2023, leaving behind three children to piece together a future without their mother. Too many of us know the pain of survivorship—whether from personal experience or through the lives of friends and family. These tragedies, these unbearable losses, brought us together to say: ENOUGH.
In the wake of these murders, a social media movement emerged, gathering over 1,500 followers—survivors, advocates, and heartbroken community members demanding change. It became a space to expose systemic failures, amplify survivor voices, continue to increase awareness and channel the anger and frustration of those who refused to accept that domestic violence was inevitable or that the justice system is robust enough to protect survivors who did everything by the book.
The message was loud and clear: ENOUGH DV! The time for change is NOW.
This outpouring of community support was more than engagement—it was a lifeline. It helped people begin to process their shock, to feel seen, to feel love and solidarity in a moment of devastation. But witnessing the aftermath so closely, we knew we could never sit back and simply watch more families endure the same pain. We refuse to accept that another victim has to suffer, that another family has to grieve. We choose action. We choose hope. We choose change.
Though we are still in the early stages, we are fiercely committed and deeply connected to this cause. Our board is small, but we are survivors, advocates, and changemakers. We are actively shaping our policies, strategic plans, support services, and defining our long-term vision to ensure real, lasting impact.
To those who stand with us—thank you. Your support, understanding, and patience mean everything as we build this movement, together. If you are motivated, impacted, have a desire help and want to engage, please contact us through our online form options.
LOVE & LIGHT.
